On Thursday, October 27 2022, the New Jersey Clean Cities Coalition held its Silver Jubilee Reception, celebrating 25 years as a designated Clean Cities coalition by the Department of Energy!

The reception was held at the Central King Building on the New Jersey Institute of Technology campus in Newark, NJ and counted over 50 attendees, which included NJCCC stakeholders, members, government liaisons and other Clean Cities coalitions.

Many of these attendees have been with the NJCCC since its original designation in 1997, such as Ellen Bourbon, the coalition's first coordinator.

“It was great to be back in New Jersey for the Clean Cities Coalition’s 25th anniversary, and to see that what we started over 25 years ago has grown even better over the years," Bourbon said. "I was happy to see some of my old stakeholders who are still active in the coalition and promoting alternative fuels and advanced technologies. It was also great to see so many new faces and feel the energy in the room. Chuck Feinberg has done a great job, taking the coalition to new levels.”

The reception featured music, a picture slideshow, trivia activities and speeches from friends of the coalition such as Mark Smith (Department of Energy), Adam Zellner (Greener by Design), Zach McCue (Senator Booker's office), Nicole Kirby (NETL), Rick Dovey (ACUA), Mike Britt (UPS) and our very own coordinator, Chuck Feinberg.

"This event reflects 25 years of clean fuel promotion, its great to see how much progress we have made," Feinberg said of the event. "There’s certainly much more to be done, but we have a great foundation to work from."

The NJCCC would like to thank our generous sponsors, Lightning eMotors, Clean Energy Fuels, Colliers Engineering & Design, Greener by Design, Air & Gas Technologies, South Jersey Gas, Bayshore Recycling, New Jersey Natural Gas, Waste Management and the Atlantic County Utilities Authority! Without your help, this event would not have been possible.

Additionally, the coalition would like to thank its members and stakeholders for their continued support as well as the Department of Energy. We look forward to the next 25 years of promoting clean fuels and transportation together!
