The NJ Clean Cities Coalition is proud to announce the designation of Wynnie-Fred Victor Hinds, Executive Director of the Weequahic Park Association, as its Energy and Environmental Justice (EEJ) Advisor. Wynnie-Fred has been an appointed member of the City of Newark Environmental Commission since 2015. She is a Board Member of Clean Water Action, a member of Green Leadership Trust, a member of the Newark Water Group, and was formerly on the Data Advisory Committee for Jersey Water Works. Additionally, she is the Founding Executive Director of a non-profit organization advocating for and educating the community about various social and environmental issues. She holds a B.A. in Economics/Management & Administration and a M.S. degree in International Relations. She is fluent in French, Haitian Creole and Spanish.

With her more than 20 years of experience, Wynnie-Fred will help NJ Clean Cities Coalition to achieve its goals involving community outreach, education, and other initiatives even more effectively. As an expert advisor she will actively participate in our coalition’s current and future projects, many of which require significant community engagement activities. These projects include our two commercial Zero Emission Vehicle corridor planning projects, our workplace charging project, our curbside public charging project, and several others.

Nationally, USDOE-affiliated Clean Cities and Communities coalitions are helping improve equitable access to clean transportation options by engaging with their local communities to co-develop projects and solutions that meet real, on-the-ground needs. Coalition activities advance EEJ goals and benefit underserved and overburdened communities in a variety of ways. This work aligns with the Biden administration's Justice40 Initiative, which reflects a federal commitment to tackling long-standing environmental justice issues including climate change, clean energy and energy efficiency, clean transit, affordable and sustainable housing, training and workforce development, remediation and reduction of legacy pollution, and development of critical water and wastewater infrastructure. Working in the country’s most densely populated state, the NJ Clean Cities Coalition has long supported the goals of engaging with the community to develop equitable transportation options. For example, we are proud to have served as a technical advisor in the development of the community-based electric shuttle service, Go Trenton initiative. This collaborative effort involved community organizations working together to bring reliable and affordable transportation to disadvantaged, underserved, and overburdened community.

The NJ Clean Cities Coalition seeks to advance the effectiveness of our community engagement activities and we are thrilled to have Wynnie-Fred by our side as we strive to accomplish this mission in the most meaningful way possible.
